    Hello Diynikki2022!

    Great name! 😉

Also, great question. Technically, the answer is yes, you can visit Rio Celeste while traveling between La Fortuna and Monteverde. Most travelers don’t think to do that because Rio Celeste doesn’t fall between the two destinations; Rio Celeste is located north of La Fortuna and Monteverde is located south of La Fortuna (La Fortuna is in the middle). Visiting Rio Celeste “along the way” would require some extra drive time compared to if you just drove direct to Monteverde from La Fortuna. That being said, if you absolutely want to visit Rio Celeste during your trip, it would be faster for you to incorporate a visit on the way to Monteverde (as you suggested) than to drive to/from La Fortuna and Rio Celeste, and then continue on to Monteverde from La Fortuna.

Here’s a breakdown of the approximate travel times you’ll face with each option:

-If you drive directly to Monteverde from La Fortuna, you’ll spend approximately 3 hours on the road

-If you drive from La Fortuna to Rio Celeste, then from Rio Celeste to Monteverde, you’ll spend approximately 4 hours on the road

-If you visit Rio Celeste to and from La Fortuna (in one day), then travel to Monteverde afterward or the next day (direct from La Fortuna), you’d spend approximately 5.5 hours on the road.

    Pura vida! 🙂
