What an exciting travel itinerary! It’s great that you want to add in stops at both Caribbean (Puerto Viejo) and Pacific (Manuel Antonio) destinations. It can be a bit tricky to do so efficiently since you’re virtually traveling from one side of the country to the other, but it’s certainly possible. Quick question for you: Are your arrangements for La Fortuna and Monteverde already set in stone? If not, I would arrange the trip the following way to minimize wasted travel/drive time:

-First week in Potrero (already determined)
-Few days in Monteverde
-Few days in Manuel Antonio
-Few days in Puerto Viejo de Talamanca (you may want to add a night in San Jose here, to break up the long drive between Manuel Antonio and Puerto Viejo de Talamanca)
-Few days in La Fortuna
-Back to Liberia

The amount of time you should spend in each place is best determined by the types of tours/activities that you wish to experience at each place and how much time they require.

If you’re limited to visiting Potrero first, La Fortuna second, and Monteverde third, then you can visit Puerto Viejo de Talamanca and Manuel Antonio afterward in whichever order you please. (The drives to these destinations will be long, and you’ll need to backtrack out of both destinations, but the visits will be worth it in the end.) 🙂
