Taxi fares are charged by the route. Official taxi drivers use a meter to clock mileage. Unofficial taxi drivers and other forms of private transportation services, such as private transportation services, which are typically used for long-distance travel, provide set fares for each popular route traveled in Costa Rica. With respect to ground transportation, services are usually only charged per person when they’re shared shuttle services or public transportation (i.e., local bus) services.
