KeymasterHello Devon!
No problem! There are lots of options here. To begin, most private transfer service providers will be able to pick you up in Guapiles and drop you off in Arenal, especially if they’re based in Arenal. Two Arenal-based operators worth considering are Ride Costa Rica and Desafio Adventure Company.
If you don’t need the private transfer service, you may be able to save some money by hopping on a shared shuttle service. Exploradores Outdoors runs shuttle services almost daily that pass through Guapiles and head to Arenal, so I’d recommend reaching out to them. Alternatively, I believe Interbus can provide pick-ups in Guapiles on their way to Arenal too.
As a side note, the Guapiles area is not the safest area of Costa Rica, even on the outskirts of town where you’ll likely be dropped off. Please make sure your Tortuguero hotel will drop you off at a safe location in the Guapiles area. Ideally, that location will be the same place where you get picked up by the shuttle or private transfer service driver so you don’t need to walk between two places around Guapiles.

ParticipantI have a large group of 17 trying to get from LIR to Tamarindo on the 18th what are my best options? Also, is it safe to rent a car in Costa Rica?

KeymasterHey Russellfamtrip!
Great question! With a group that large, I’d recommend hiring a private transfer service driver. Though smaller vehicles (like Hiaces) are typically used to perform private transfer services, most transportation companies also have larger vehicles (such as Coasters) that can accommodate 20+ passengers.
