KeymasterHello Leslie!
Great question! No matter where you travel in Costa Rica, there’s something to do along the way. 😉
For the drive from La Fortuna to Tamarindo, there are two different ways you could go. The northern route passes through Liberia and then cuts south to Tamarindo. The southern route cuts south earlier and passes through Nicoya and Santa Cruz. Both routes share the drive as far as Canas, and along that part of the drive you can do the following:
-View the dam/Lake Arenal
-Stop at a restaurant, cafe, or brewery as you drive around Lake ArenalAt Canas, if you take the northern route, you can do the following:
-Visit the Llanos del Cortes Waterfall
-Visit the Palo Verde National Park
-Sightsee around downtown Liberia
-Visit a few small museums in Liberia
-Visit an art gallery, take a coffee tour, or shop at a souvenir store just outside of Liberia
-Visit an old, traditional HaciendaAt Canas, if you take the southern route, you can do the following:
-Cross over the large, long Puente Amistad (Friendship Bridge)
-Visit the Barra Honda National Park
-Shop for indigenous souvenirs in GuaitilLet me know if you want more information on one or more of the above options! 🙂
