Great question! My best guess is no, it won’t be open by then. Cerro Chato has been officially closed to the public for several years, and I haven’t heard any talk of plans for it to reopen.
Question: What are the requirements for the virtual walk to Mordor? Perhaps I can recommend an alternative option? There are ways you can walk around the foothills of the volcano that are separate from Cerro Chato—would those do, or does it need to be a strenuous uphill challenge?
